Water
You need to make sure that you are including enough water in the mix. It is not safe to have any less than that. This is because the water is what makes the concrete hard and moldable. The more water you add, the harder the mixture will be. You need to make sure that you are adding the right amount of water to it.
Sand
A concrete mix also has sand and crushed stones in it. It is hard to determine the right amount of sand without testing it first. One way to be sure that you are adding the right amount of sand is by using a sand test kit. You can add some sand to a container and see if it sinks or not. If it sinks, you should add more sand to the mixture. If it doesn’t sink, you have added the right amount.

Plasticizers are included in the mix so that the mixture starts to harden as it dries. They basically prevent the mix from retorting or hardening while being exposed to the atmosphere. They are basically included in order to make concrete stronger, thus improving its properties.
Dispersing Agent
This is also known as a retarder. It’s an agent that is added to the mix in order to slow down the hardening of the mix and make it easier to handle. This is done in order to give concrete the time it needs to cure and harden.
Refractory Materials
Refractory materials are included in concrete to reduce shrinkage. They basically keep the concrete from shrinkage as it hardens.
